CompTIA Network Tech Support Home-Study Certification Training - Some Insights

Computer and network support technicians are ever more sought after in the United Kingdom, as organisations become progressively more dependent upon their knowledge and ability to fix and repair. Because of the daunting complexities of technology, growing numbers of IT professionals are needed to look after the many areas we've come to rely on.

If there's any chance you'll be enrolling with a training school who is still using workshop days as a benefit of their course, then take note of these difficulties encountered by the majority of students:

* Periodic driving or public transport - quite a distance away a lot of the time.

* Taking time out of work - most trainers can only give Mon-Fri workshop availability and typically group 2-3 days together. This isn't ideal for most people who work, and this is made worse when travel time is included.

* Usually, we think 4 weeks off each year is not really enough. Knock off a big chunk of this for educational workshops and watch how much harder things become.

* 'In-Centre' workshop days usually reach their maximum intake very quickly, meaning we have to accept something that we don't really want.

* Tension can be created inside the classroom because most students want to move at a pace comfortable for them.

* Don't forget the extra expense of arranging transport and accommodation for the duration either. This can run to many hundreds of pounds more - sometimes thousands. Sit down and add it up - you'll get a shock.

* Not wanting employers to know about the training will be of paramount importance to most attendees. There's no need to give up any lift up the ladder, income boosts or achievement at work just because you're retraining. If your work discovers you're putting yourself through accreditation in a different industry, how will they regard you?

* Who amongst us hasn't shied away from raising a hand in the air, because we wanted to maintain the illusion that we did, in fact, understand?

* You should remember, workshops become virtually impossible to attend, in cases where you work or live away for part of your week or month.

Why don't you watch on-screen and be taught by teachers one-on-one from pre-filmed classes, working on them at your convenience - not somebody else's. If anything comes up, use the provided 24x7 live support (that you should have insisted on for any technical study.) Keep in mind, if you have a laptop, you can study just about anywhere. All the lessons can be repeated whenever it's convenient - the more times you cover something - the more you'll remember. And note-taking becomes a thing of the past - it's all ready to go. The bottom line: Reduced hassle and stress, saved money, and you've avoided all travel.

The sometimes daunting task of getting your first role in IT is often made easier by some training providers because they offer a Job Placement Assistance facility. Don't get overly impressed with this service - it's easy for companies marketing departments to make too much of it. In reality, the still growing need for IT personnel in this country is what will make you attractive to employers.

Help with your CV and interview techniques may be available (alternatively, check out one of our sites for help). Ensure you work on your old CV immediately - not after you've qualified! Getting onto the 'maybe' pile of CV's is more than not being regarded at all. A surprising amount of junior positions are offered to trainees (sometimes when they've only just got going.) In many cases, a specialist locally based recruitment consultant or service (who will get paid commission to place you) will perform better than any recruitment division from a training organisation. In addition, they will no doubt be familiar with local industry and the area better.

A slight grievance of many training course providers is how much students are focused on studying to pass exams, but how un-prepared they are to work on getting the job they're studied for. Have confidence - the IT industry needs YOU.
