Your training program should always include the current Microsoft (or Cisco, CompTIA etc.) authorised simulation materials and exam preparation packages. As the majority of IT examining boards come from the United States, you'll need to be used to the correct phraseology. It's no use just understanding random questions - they have to be in the same format as the actual exams. 'Mock' or practice exams will prove invaluable as a resource to you - so that when you come to take the real deal, you don't get phased.

A knowledgeable and specialised consultant (in direct contrast to a salesman) will want to thoroughly discuss your abilities and experience. This is paramount to working out your study start-point. If you've got any work-based experience or some accreditation, you could discover that your appropriate starting-point is different from a beginner. Always consider starting with some basic PC skills training first. This can often make your learning curve a much easier going.

There are not very many Windows NT servers still around, although server '2000' remain quite common. The majority of businesses still run on 'Windows' '2003', but Windows 2008 is building-pace. This being the case, the main 'Microsoft' certifications are still largely centred around 'Windows' Server '2003'. Whilst the MCSA and MCSE certifications have been in existence for a number of yrs now, (keeping up with Windows server through it's evolution,) the Microsoft MCSA '2003' and 'MCSE' 2003 remain the mainstay of present day Microsoft network certification. As up-grade coaching for Server 2008 is also available though, it's beneficial to cover this too.
